Multiple Methods of Protection

Apparatus may incorporate more than one method of protection. The first named method will indicate the main method of protection, For example:

• Ex ed = Increased safety (e) + flameproof (d)
• Exp de = Pressurerisation (p) + increased safety (e)
• Ex dib = Flameproof (d) + intrinsically safe (i) (b = suitable for zone 1 or 2)
